My Memory

I was chosen to undergo an experiment that wipes the mind clean of memories. The doctors told me that they could save one memory, for some odd reason, and I could pick it. This blog is about that one memory. That one memory that would be the only thing I kept in my mind for the remaining years I walk the earth. There is one memory that I always one that I have cherished. It is about my grandmothers fifty-ninth birthday and I had all of my family together. My family that lives in Georgia, I mean. . All of my mom's family was there, including my great-grandparents. My biological dad was there. I was six and my brother was four. I remember feeling happy and energetic. Also, I felt mad because Mom kept pestering me about letting Nana open her own gifts and that I needed to sit down on my pillow. I kept saying to myself that I would get away with it. I thought that I would go to bed with no punishment, which I did!

When I think about this memory, emotions run over me like jumping in an ice cold pool. I feel a sense of innocence, love, and pure joy. I didn’t know it, but I would soon loose two people out of the room. I felt that I didn’t have a care in the world. I thought the people around me would always be there and that thirteen looked a million miles away. My brother looked so small to me! He looked like a mouse!

After I loose the link of the past in my mind, I think that wasn’t that long ago. The truth is, I’m right! I was only a couple of years ago. I have loved this memory and thought of it in rough times. I think of how I must have looked to my family. The thing that kills me, though, is that some of my family doesn’t remember that memory at all! So, as time goes on I still cherish that memory and dream of it. I never get tired of it.

The Importance of the Holocaust

I'm very glad for many reasons that we studied about the Holocaust. The main reason is to learn to respect the human race. Through the years, Jews were persecuted and killed for just being different. All the way through history, Jews were said to be the source of economic, social, and political problems, and this led to the Holocaust in Germany. The Jews were still human beings, but to many, they weren’t. Hitler saw them as the source of the German problems in the German Depression. He invaded countries killing twelve-million Jews in Europe.

My grandmother went to the concentration camp at Auschwitz. On one of the buildings where there had been gas chambers, on a solid white wall is painted, in big, black letters, “Never Again.” It is there to remind us NEVER even to think about doing or allowing something that evil again. It is there to tell us not to follow people like Adolf Hitler, who have so much hatred, and not to let prejudice make us do things that we know are really wrong.Discrimination is still going on today. We judge people by how they think, dress, or talk. We also judge people who are different races, cultures, or religions from us. When we think, “They look ugly,” they might think the same thing about us. The Jews were killed just for being different! They were doing better than the Germans, so the Germans got jealous. How many of us get jealous because someone has more money than we do, or has a better grade than ours? That’s exactly how the Germans felt. The Holocaust is a prime example of jealousy and judgment. I don’t know about others, but I am going to think twice before I judge or am jealous of someone.

Which Five?

Help! Help! There has been an atomic bomb on the world! There are only five occupations left on earth! Which ones would you pick? That was our blog assignment. Boy, I didn't think that it would be this hard to decide, but I did it! The five occupations that would be left on earth would be these. We need a scholar because we need someone who can teach us the Bible and teach us about history, science, math and English at the same time. All the civilizations used scholars to write important documents and laws. This we need to become re-civilized.
We need a doctor because we're going to have to have someone to give a flu shot and other medicines, aren't we? We also need a carpenter to teach us how to rebuild. If we are to make houses to live in, we need him. The ancient Greeks used the carpenters to put their culture into their sculptures and buildings. We need a blacksmith to make us tools and pottery. This is also important to live. The Egyptians used these, also, to make ceremonial helmets, rings and silverware. If we were in ancient Egypt, we would call it “gold – ware”. Lastly, we need a farmer. If we didn't have this guy, we would die of starvation in a week. The farmers were used everywhere in history. They were used to cultivate the land and use it for whatever they could grow. They, in my opinion, were the most essential in the growing civilizations.

In Animal Form

If I were to be an animal, I would be a tiger. There are many reasons for this. One is that tigers are powerful and strong. Another is that tigers are recognized as most popular of the great cats. “Tiger” is Greek for “Tigris” meaning arrow for there speed, which I am. Tigers are very strong because of there size and weight, which is an advantage. The tiger is known as “King of the Beasts” in other countries. This relates to me because I have lots of leadership skills. Tigers also have very strong jaws. I could tear open a cardboard box with mine! I remember the first time I went to the zoo and saw a tiger. From that point on I knew that’s what I wanted to be.

If I was to pick an animal for Mrs. Chapman, it would have to be an elephant. The elephant is a symbol of wisdom, in Asian cultures. This relates to her because she is very smart. Aristotle once explained elephants “to surpass all animals in wit and mind.” Many female elephant groups are lead by the eldest female. In other words, age is a good thing. Elephants are very social creatures, just like Mrs. C! Elephants are mostly gentle. There is only one exception, territory. If too many elephants get into a group, one elephant teaches the group a lesson. This is closely related to an over-crowded and loud classroom. They have VERY good hearing. They will even choose not to hear things at times. This is relating to her because she has selective hearing. Elephants are very emotional creatures. They can laugh and have a good time with other elephants as well. Elephants are very wise. The elephant is known, also, for its memory. It is said to never forget a thing. Mrs. Chapman has a very good memory and rarely forgets anything important.

A Hymn

"Living for Jesus a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do,
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me."
"Living for Jesus Who died in my place,
Bearing on Calv'ry my sin and disgrace,
Such love constrains me to answer His call,
Follow His leading and give Him my all."
"Living for Jesus wher-ev-er I am,
Doing each duty in His Holy Name,
Willing to suffer affliction or loss,
Deeming each trial a part of my cross.
"Living for Jesus through earth's little while,
My dearest treasure, the light of his smile,
Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.
"O Jesus, Lord my Saviour, I give myself to Thee;
For Thou, in Thy atonement,
Dist give myself up for me,
I own no other master, My heart shall be Thy throne,
My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for the alone.

Cappy, this is for you!

I see a face, so tired and weary,
Yet he loves me, all the same.
I see a hand, rough as sandpaper,
Yet he guides me all the same.
I see a heart, worn with the years,
Yet he cares in every way.
I see a man, with weary eyes,
Yet he sees the wrong in every way.
I see my Cappy, standing strong,
Who's had ups and downs, but stood his own.
He has stood up for me, and loved me,
And with this, I know he cares.

The Country

It has been so cold where I live. I can't even explain how cold it is here. When you look outside and its raining, sun-shining, or even snowing, what do you think about? Do you get sleepy and go take a nap, or do you go outside and play ball? I always think about how lucky I am not to live in the city. I have cold, windy days most of the time now. Though in the summer, there are clear blue skies, green grass, and the smell of fresh hay needing to be cut. If you ever go to the country in the summertime, you'll never want to go back to the city. I have always loved the city cites, but the land out in the country cannot be beat. I leave you with that thought, city-folk. Think about it.

My Poem

Life is but one thing,
One thing, that when you find that one thing, everything else means nothing.
Life is not just of living because you can,
but it is a present of God and a sacrifice of Jesus.
It is a gift,
that should be treasured every minute of every day.

"Working The Cows"

Ever since I was young, my close-in-proximity family would all get together on the farm and "work the cows". That means that we give the cows their shots and flea medicine. When I first had to twist a cows tail to give her a shot, it felt great! I felt very grown up. My hands turned red from her fur! Cappy said that I did an excellent job. One year, I had just learned Spanish numbers, and we working them. We were doing it on the first of January, and this cow went into labor. She had a black bull. It was so exciting! I was the only child at the time who would help clean him. So, I got to name him! I named him Uno. Since that's Spanish for one.

The steps that we take are very complicated. Here they are. One, round up all the cows and put them in pins. Two, if they turn around in line or won't go through, shock them. This will make them line up in front of the shoot. Three, put pipes behind the first two cows next in line to go into the shoot. Four, let a little room at the end so it thinks it will go all the way through.(But it really can't) Five, when it tries to run, clamp it's neck with the clamps. Six, give it a full injection of the pink medicine and give the babies (if it comes through) a full one of yellow. Seven, fill a cup of blue medicine and pour it up and down its back. Finally, release the cow to the pasture.

As you can see, these steps are very complicated. Although, when your doing 35 times, you get the hang of it. I have done this for at least 7 years, and I love doing it! I have always loved working on the farm with Cappy and the rest of my family.
